2.) The Cardinals & Red Sox have faced each other three previous times in the World Series. In 1946, 1967, and in 2004 (MVS Staffer Tim Peterson has seen them all.)

3.) On this date in 2004 La Puente rallies from a 34-6 deficit before falling to Azusa 34-32 at Citrus College. When the season ends the Warriors stay home, but the 4-6 Aztecs, under HC Craig Schuster, got to travel to Lompoc for the first round of the playoffs.

5.) Mark Keppel is 0-67 this century in Almont League play.

6.) Hall of Fame baseball announcer Red Barber dies on this day in 1992 at the age of 84.

8.) If El Rancho beats Cal this week, the Dons will make the playoffs for the first time since 2010. The Ranch has not won a playoff game since defeating St. Bernard’s in the first round of the 2001 playoffs.
