(Ellensburg, WA)- Azusa Pacific relied on special teams and defense to knock off Central Washington 24-17 on the road Saturday. With the victory the Cougars moved into sole possession of first place in the GNAC.

Tarik Myles gave the Cougars a 14-10 lead in the second quarter when he returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown. It was a lead they never relinquished. C.J. Broussard picked off a pass and took it 50 yards to the house to get APU on the scorebaord in the first half.

Central Washington recovered an onside kick late in the contest but the Azusa Pacific defense forced a turnover to secure the victory. The Cougars improved to 6-1 in conference and 6-2 overall with the win. Central Washington fell to 5-3 overall and 5-2 in GNAC.
