2013 All Southeast Team

Matthew Rosales led the Lancers with 88 receiving yards.

For Matthew Rosales & La Serna it was a great 2013.

(We’ve said it before. No second team, no third team, and we don’t make someone an MVP to move them up and then slide someone else into their position. Lot of debate. In the end we realize we’ve made a couple of people happy and a whole host of others very angry. Our choices, we stand by them.)

OFFENSE

Quarterback:

Frankie Palmer—La Serna

(Frankie Football just didn’t make the team again, he got it done. Ending his prep career in serious style. Names like Ryan Meredith, Brian Gadsby, Jorge Reyna, and Dejon Williams came up…but Palmer was unanimous.)

Running Backs:

Rashaad Penny—Norwalk

James Williams–Burbank

Estaurdo Marcos–Los Altos

(Penny returns from last year’s team. James “The Body Electric” Williams was unanimous as well. Marcos’ spot came to a battle between him and D-Bar’s Tyler Brown and, Marcos prevailed on a split vote.)

Wide Receivers:

Oharjee Brown–Burbank

Matthew Rosales–La Serna

(In a division loaded with great quarterbacks there weren’t very many receivers with eye popping numbers (only one (Takata at Santa Fe) had over a thousand yards). Brown and Rosales were the best consistently when it counted the most for their teams.)

Offensive Line:

Left Tackle: Kammy Delp, Diamond Ranch

Left Guard: Aaron Armendarez, Norwalk

Center: Aaron Gomez, La Serna

Right Guard: David Tolmachoff, Los Altos

Right Tackle: Enrique Huerta, La Serna

(Every one of the players below are listed in their proper 2013 position. We take the longest on this area with all of our teams because we want to get it right. The last thing we want to do is pick five guys, three guards and two centers to make an all star offensive line. Because we slot to specific positions a lot of great players get left out.)

Kicker:

Diego Sanchez—Bellflower

DEFENSE

Defensive Line:

DE: Luis Camacho–La Serna

DT: Christian McQueen–Bonita

DT: David Jimenez–Los Altos

DE: Uriah Dillon Leiataua–Dominguez

(Went four deep on the front wall instead of the traditional three.)

Linebackers:

OLB: Tevita Sina–Los Altos

MLB: Richard Bramble–Santa Fe

OLB: Tristan Esparza–Downey

(Linebacker was a struggle this year. It might be a reach, but we moved Sina from defensive end to linebacker. Hey if the 49ers can do it with Aldon Smith why can’t we?)

Defensive Backs:

CB: Taeon Mason–Muir

CB: Sidney Jones–West Covina

SS: Tytus Simmons–Artesia

FS: Brian Lamb–Diamond Bar

(We really liked Simmons even though he was under the radar at Artesia, but it also seemed like Jones was under the radar at WestCo this season. Lamb was terrific and for Mason it is just the beginning.)

Punter:

Cory Bojorquez—Mayfair

(Another excellent punter for the Monsoons.)

Return Specialist:

Jordan Lobianco—Crescenta Valley

(Special player and he’s back in 2014.)

Patrick Perrigue Award (Utility)

Tyler Brown—Diamond Bar

(This guy is a stud. He ran the ball, caught the ball, tackled, and shined in the return game.)
