5.  51 years ago today Pete Rose made his spring training debut with the Reds.

6.  Dodger manager Don Mattingly names Clayton Kershaw the opening day starter against the Diamond Backs in Australia.

7.  ESPN is reporting that “all indications” are that former Bull and Laker head coach Phil Jackson will take a front office job with the New York Knicks.

8.  On this day in 1983 former Dodger manager Walter Alston was elected into the MLB Hall of Fame.

9.  William Clay Ford Sr. owner of the Detroit Lions and last surviving grandson of Henry Ford passed away Sunday at the age of 88.
