Kick it!

Wouldn’t the Del Rio be a better fit in the Mid-Valley Division these days?

Word is I’ve been paroled from the La Canada dog house by Tamar Hill and am being permitted to attend the Spartans first round state contest at Eagle Rock tonight. They should win…but I think I’m being set up as a fall guy.

In two seasons under Russell Gordon the La Salle Lancers have gone 19-3. They are 11-0 in Del Rey League play, and have lost only one regular season game (actually two, the 2013 opener to Cathedral was won by forfeit). The problem is they are 0-2 in post season games…both played at home.

The problem for the Lancers? I think it’s a lousy Del Rey League. How about you?

I have to admit, sometimes on the message boards the “you suck”, “we suck”, “they suck” arguments wear thin. I checked out of the Monrovia/Bishop Amat exchange so can someone help me. Did M-Town lose players to Amat, or did Amat lose players to M-Town?

One email I got this week said “Elvis” will be the next quarterback at Downey. I haven’t checked with Jack Williams, but I’m not sure if they mean Elvis Presley or some other Elvis…

At various times from December through January we were tipped off about the resignations of Joel Sanchez (El Monte), Jim Singiser (Arroyo), Marc Paramo (Rosemead), Mike Moschetti (La Mirada), and Jesse Ceniceros (Norwalk)…

This stuff is a yawnfest…but if you want to send me something like “the best way to stop a no-huddle/spread/passing offense is a zone blitz from a 33 Stack”…that I can get into.

Does 57-million seem a bit excessive for Aquib Talib? I’m not a Denver Broncos fan, so more power to them. Teams are paying way too much for cornerbacks these days.

Just when you thought the Oakland Raiders were on the right track, Darren McFadden signs a one-year, $4 million contract to stay with the team. Then the silver and black gave former St. Louis Rams tackle Rodger Saffold 42.5 million for five years…and it looks like he’s going to play guard.

As a Rams fan I liked Saffold, but then again I don’t like paying Ruth Chris prices for a Double-Double from In ‘N Out.

Former Ram Craig Dahl being currently listed as the starting strong safety for the San Francisco 49ers makes my day a little brighter.

Is Kobe Bryant, six games played this season, shut down for this season only? Perhaps he should shut it down for good. Talk about millions being paid in an excessive manner.

”It’s the system, and the system is never going to change, it sucks,” said Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado after receiving only a $19,000 raise from his 2013 salary of $495,000. Just awful.

Regards:

In regards to Malaysia Airlines 777 that was lost: It seems like the start of a thriller novel (Clancy/Cussler). Jumbo jet disappears and then reappears to be used as a weapon pointed at Washington D.C.

In regards to Floyd Mayweather: Does boxing really matter anymore?

In regards to Chone Figgins: Deal or no deal?

In regards to the 49ers acquiring Blaine Gabbert: Is he really an improvement over Colt McCoy?

In regards to Darryl Strawberry: Turns 52 today.

The Dude abides…
