Pasadena, Baldwin Park Fit to be Tied

By Corey Kwok
(Pasadena)- Pasadena coasted to a 4-0 fourth inning lead but then gave it all back to Baldwin Park in the top of the fifth. The two teams eventually battled to an 8-8 tie Tuesday as the game was called due to darkness.
Pasadena again took the lead 6-4 but BP fought back to grab an 8-6 advantage. The Bulldogs scored one in the sixth and another in the seventh for an 8-8 tie before the game was stopped.
Mistakes factored heavily towards the deadlock outcome, as the teams combined for six errors (4 PHS, 2 BP) over the final three innings and nine overall. Amidst the flood of miscues, both the Bulldogs and Braves were cracking away at the plate as each team had more than 10 hits.
Andrew Lathouwers broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the fifth by going yard over left field to Victory Park for a two run home run, and finished two for three at bat with two runs and a stolen base for Pasadena, which also thrived off sharp performances from Frankie Garriola (2/4, triple, 2 RBI, BB), Sergio Rey (4/4, 2 runs, 3 RBI, SacB) and Sumner Smith (4/4, 2 runs, 2 SB, BB).
Jose Valdivia went two for four, scored two runs, and led Baldwin Park with three RBI. Also contributing to the Braves’ cause were Michael Guzman (2/3, 2 doubles, 2 RBI), Jordan Palacio (2/5, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Tim Wells (2/3, 2 runs), and Anthony Franco (3/3, R, HBP).
Pasadena will host South Pasadena for a doubleheader this Saturday, while Baldwin Park resumes play next week with two homestands, beginning on Monday with Chaffey before a showdown with its cross town rival Sierra Vista, on Wednesday.
