(El Monte)- In a game reminiscent of last week’s trouncing of Gabrielino, Arroyo repeated the performance with a 45-0 victory over El Monte on Friday night at B.L. Bergstrom Stadium.

The Knights opened with a 90-yard drive that was capped by Mike Vasquez 5-yard touchdown run. Five minutes later got on the board again, this time with a sprint from 40-yards out.

With 1:27 to play in the first quarter Steven Rivera unleashed a 53-yard bomb to Alexis Acevedo to make it 21-0.

Early in the second quarter Javier Lozano blocked an El Monte punt, the Knights Sam Torres scooped up the ball and returned it 20-yard to paydirt.

The Arroyo defense made life miserable for Lion quarterbacks Quang Phong and Manuel Santa Cruz hounding and hassling all night, from every formation.

In the third quarter Vasquez threaded his 17-yards for his third touchdown. A little over two minutes later Rivera went 55-yards to Hunter Duran and it was 42-0.

Rogelio Sotelo added a 25-yard field goal to close the scoring.

The win improved Arroyo to 3-0 in the Mission Valley League, 6-2 overall. El Monte remains winless at 0-8.
