(Glendale) – Ormoni Duncan stripped the ball from Tornado quarterback AJ Pule inside the one and ran it back 99 yards to the house in the second quarter to propel Muir to a 25-0 win over Hoover Thursday night in Pacific League action.
Muir’s all-everything two way star Jarron Williams led all rushers with 46 yards on five carries and completed three of six passes for 70 more with a touchdown strike to Duncan.
Jeffrey Davis stepped in for Williams under center and fired a 26 yard bullet to Lawrence Phillips for a score to make the score 19-0. The TD was set up a Justin Mitchell interception.
Enrique Diaz, Ivan Abarenov, and Joel Perez each recovered a fumble for the Tornadoes, who hung tough into the fourth before dissipating underneath the quick turnovers and conversions by Muir.
Muir’s Howard Vaughn booted a punt for 52 yards late in the third before lighting up a Hoover kick returner with a jaw-dropping wake-me-up tackle.
Ivan Tello shouldered the load for the Tornadoes catching five passes for 46 yards and ran 19 times for 41 more. In the air Pule was picked off twice but finished nine of 15 for 72 yards. Backup Stephen Choi also threw a pick.
