Rowland Heights) At Thomas M. Aney Stadium on the campus of Rowland High School the West Covina Bulldogs made themselves the unwelcome guests Friday night knocking off the previous unbeaten and Southeast Division number one Raiders 32-10.The 22 point margin was not an indicator of just how uneven this contest turned out to be as the Bulldogs completely dominated both sides of the ball.

It didn’t take West Covina long to get on the board as Jesse Ili powered his way into the end zone on a two yard run with just over nine minutes left in the first quarter. The score was set up by a Josh Onovughe fumble on the Raiders 34- yard line on Rowland’s first offensive series.

With just under three minutes left in the first frame Ili scored again this time on thirty five yard pitch and run from Bulldog quarterback George Johnson. The extra point by Roger Paez misses but West Covina had built their lead to 13-0.

With the air beginning to chill and before the bleacher seats could get warm, West Covina scored again this time Johnson finding Chris Solomon from 10-yards away. This score was set up by Ili picking off a Leonardo Freeman pass and returning it 68-yards to the Rowland 12.

Bulldog George Johnson called it a night late in the third quarter but still managed to complete eight of 10 for 165-yards and the two scores.

The Raiders managed to get on the board late in the first half on a 44- yard field goal by Henry Calisto. Calisto also kept the scoring drive alive by running the ball from punt formation and gaining a first down.

West Covina opened the second half with a back breaking, ten play 80-yard scoring drive that got Ricky Johnson involved with the first of his two scores on the night. The point after by Paez was good this time and the Bulldogs increased their lead to 26-3.

The Raider offense was unable to put together sustained drives to keep the Bulldog offense off the field. Freeman filling in for the injured Michael Ball completed only two of thirteen passes for 10-yards and two interceptions.

The lone standout performance from Rowland was Onovughe who carried the ball 24 times for 134-yards and a late touchdown.

West Covina will get some much needed rest as they go into their bye week while Rowland will take on Nogales.
