The KISS Struggles in Iowa

(Des Moines, IA) –  The LA KISS offense was completely shut down in a 31-12 loss to the Iowa Barnstormers Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

Down 21-0 the KISS finally broke through with a  14 yard touchdown pass from J.J. Raterink to Donovan Morgan with 5:05 left in the half. The extra point failed and Iowa came back with an 11-yard TD run by Carson Coffman to go up 28-6 at the half.

Neither team scored in the third quarter and in the fourth, Iowa managed only  a field goal. The KISS scored in the final minute on a touchdown strike by rookie quarterback Tyler Hanson.

Raterink, who threw three interceptions, was replaced by Hanson after three quarters. Hanson didn’t fare much better tossing two picks himself as all five Iowa defensive backs had interceptions in the game.

Coffman threw two first quarter touchdowns to Julian Williams and Marco Thomas to get the Barnstormers off and running to a 14-0 lead.

Iowa improved to 3-2 with the win while the KISS dropped to 2-3.
