Joseph Diaz Jr. still unbeaten as he wins a decision over Ramiro Robles

(Las Vegas) – South El Monte’s Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz improved to 11-0 with a ten round unanimous decision over Mexico’s Ramiro Robles (12-2) Wednesday night at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas.

Diaz, a 2012 Olympian, started out fast as he ended up taking all three cards, 99-91 twice and 98-92. Diaz landed several hard shots in the first round and then began working the body in the third and fourth. Diaz’ superior power was evident as his punches snapped Robles’ head back while he seemed to walk through his opponent’s counters.

Diaz and Robles exchanged blows in the fifth through the seventh and it seemed like they were fighting in a phone booth by the eighth.

Neither fighter slowed in the final two rounds as they both fired away power punches at a furious pace. Diaz closed out the show strong in the tenth with his most impressive round of the bout to earn the victory.

It was the first time Diaz had ever gone ten rounds but was none the worse for wear as he stayed unbeaten.
