1.  Germany beats Argentina 1-0 to claim their fourth World Cup Soccer title on a goal by Mario Gotze in the 113th minute.

2.  At the All-Star break the Dodgers have the most wins in the NL (54). Oakland leads all MLB (59) and the Angels are second (57).

3.  The MLB All-Star festivities begin tonight the the Home Run Derby. Slated to participate  for the AL: Jose Bautista, Josh Donaldson, Brian Dozier, Adam Jones, Yoenis Cespedes. For the NL: Troy Tulowitzki, Todd Frazier, Justin Morneau, Yasiel Puig, Giancarlo Stanton.

4.  Ramon Martinez pitched a 7-0 no-hitter against the Marlins on this day in 1995.

5.  Raven’s cornerback Jimmy Smith is the fifth Raven to be arrested this offseason.

6.  Rosey Grier, last living member of the Fearsome Foursome turns 82 today.

7.  Carmelo Anthony and the Knick reach a deal on a contract expected to be in excess of $122 million but less than the $129 million max figure.

8.  On this day in 1988 Mike Schmidt passes Mickey Mantle into 7th place on the all-time HR list when he hit his 537th.
