Mid Valley JUCO Wire… Week 10

 Mt. Sac  27   Cerritos 26  OT           (Nov. 7, 2009 at Walnut, CA)

 Mt Sac escapes a close one against Cerritos.  The locals were led by Jesse Canada (Monrovia) with nine catches for 78-yards and a touchdown.  Ahmere Owens (Muir) had three catches for 21-yards and a kick return for 33-yards.  Bryce McBride (Bishop Amat) had four carries for eight yards.

On defense, Arness Ikner (Pasadena) had seven tackles and Austin Daniels had three.

Citrus 12        El Camino 35            (Nov. 7, 2009 at El Camino College)

The offensive struggles for Citrus continued and Brandon Stansell (Rowland) managed just 15-yards on five carries, one catch for 10-yards and nine kick returns for 135-yards.  Isaac Tucker (West Covina) had four yards on four carries and one reception for one yard.  Rauley Zaragosa (Azusa) punted the ball six times for 155-yards.

On defense Jesse Prieto (Bishop Amat) had three tackles and Nico Barbone (San Dimas) had four.

Fullerton 35               Long Beach 10            (Nov, 7 2009 at Fullerton, CA)        

The standouts on defense for Fullerton were Joe Morales (South El Monte) with six tackles, Alex Valdez (Schurr) with five, Raul Pintado (Schurr) three, Juan Perez (South El Monte) two, Derrick Price (Bonita) had two and an interception and David Slover (South Hills) had one.

Glendale 41           Moorpark  27     (Nov. 7, 2009 at Glendale, CA)       

Willie Youngblood (Muir) had a huge day for Glendale in the win over Moorpark.  Youngblood rumbled his way to 258-yards on 32 carries.   Reinaldo Reyes (Blair) added 43-yards on two receptions and had a kick return of 24-yards.

PCC  22            Canyons 29   OT        (Nov. 7, 2009 at Pasadena, CA)

Not a lot of productivity from the locals in the overtime loss.  Nick Ponce (Arcadia) was 0-4 passing and Jonathan Troast (South Pasadena) was 0-3.

Defensively Williams Do (Temple City) had a big night with 10 tackles and Ruben McQueen (Bonita) and Devin Fuller (Blair) each had one.

Noticeably missing from the statistics was Muir’s Reuben Thomas.  If anyone has any news on why he was missing, please let us know!

ELAC 35         West L.A.  29      (Nov. 7. 2009 at Monterey Park, CA)

Pedro Velasquez (El Monte) had a second stellar performance in a row.  Velasquez followed last week’s five touchdown performance with four more touchdowns through the air.  He also completed 31 of 41 passes for 361 yards and one interception.

On defense, Mitchell Garner (Muir) had eight tackles and Norm Ceja (Arroyo) had one.
