Last Year: Whittier 28-21

Dons should close the regular season with a win.

El Rancho 35-10

Crescenta Valley (6-3) vs Arcadia (2-6-1) at Glendale HS

Last Year:  Crescenta Valley 59-31

No need to think that Falcons are looking ahead to playoffs with Apaches playing for pride.

Crescenta Valley 42-24

Saturday November 13, 2009 CORRECTION: Friday, November 13

Bell Gardens (6-3) at Schurr (7-1-1)
Last Year:  Schurr 20-12

Lancers had a chance to lock up a playoff spot with a win against Alhambra only to get beat by a touchdown.  All the Spartans did was win another Almont League title with a win against San Gabriel.

One thing is certain for Bell Gardens, Josh Adame needs to have the game of his life against a very good defensive unit in Schurr.  Steven Ibarra will also need to run the ball effectively.

Spartans are in a great position to rest some players heading into the playoffs.  Running back Nick Castillo is averaging 130 yards per game and quarterback Aaron Cantu has thrown for 1,695 this season.  Carlos Arredondo has quietly made a name for himself with 53 receptions and 789 yards.

Bell Gardens is some serious trouble as Schurr is scoring and playing defense.

Schurr 40-13

Keppel (1-8) at Alhambra (5-3)

Last Year: Alhambra 50-6

Moors get offensive against Aztecs.

Alhambra 35-0

Montebello (3-6) at San Gabriel (5-4)
Last Year:  San Gabriel 57-21

San Gabriel gets ready for the playoffs with a win against Oilers.

San Gabriel 49-7

La Serna (2-7) at California (6-2-1)
Last Year:  La Serna 33-21

Lancers need to win.  They will at least know what the outcome of other DRL games are prior to suiting up.  Condors are playing some incredible defense and hope to continue their shut-out streak.

La Serna needs to play flawless football.  Plain and simple.  Andrew Buenostro must make good decisions and Andrew Rosales often.  That is easier said then done, as California are ball-hawks on defense.

Condors are on a mission and are showing DRL teams they mean business with nine-straight quarters of goose eggs.  On offense, it is no secret that Terris Jones will get the ball and run.

California is on a mission and will make life miserable for Buenostro and the Lancers.

California 28-14

Charter Oak (8-1) at Los Altos (3-6)
Last Year:  Charter Oak 45-20

Only question is how many more quarters will the Chargers hold an opponent scoreless.  For those keeping score it is 13 and counting.

Charter Oak 49-7

Diamond Ranch (3-6) vs Wilson (2-7) at Ganesha HS
Last Year:  Diamond Ranch 48-0

Diamond Ranch continues to roll into the playoffs.

Diamond Ranch 35-10

Burbank (7-2) at Burroughs (7-2)
Last Year: Burroughs 58-22

It is for all the marbles in Burbank!  The only thing missing is both teams being unbeaten in the Pacific League.  Unfortunately, the Indians come into the final league game with a perfect record.

Bulldogs are too well coached to dwell on last weeks bad loss.  Burroughs haven’t lost to their city rival since the ’04-’05 season.

Burbank quarterback Adam Colman makes the right reads and makes it nearly impossible to have an interception against him.  His favorite target Sam Bethany continues to show his toughness.  Not enough can be said for Ulises Ochoa and Leo Rodas who seem to do much of the dirty work on offense.
The Indians have their own stars in quarterback Lucas Yanez and running back Dalton Williams.  With Yanez he will beat you with his arm or legs, so pick your poison.  Williams will run over defenders and is deceptively fast for his size.  Defensively, Charlie Hosea leads the team with 106 tackles.

This is going to be a good old fashion street fight with neither team giving an inch.  In the end their will be co-champs in the Pacific.

Burbank 21-17

Hoover (1-8) at Glendale (1-8)
Last Year:

Tornadoes take the “Baklavah” Bowl this year.

Hoover 20-19

Muir (3-6) vs Pasadena (5-4) at Rose Bowl
Last Year: Muir 13-0

The “Turkey Tussle” has meaning this season.  It has been a long time that the Bulldogs got the better of the Mustangs in this annual meeting.

Muir’s three losses in league were by a combined 11 points and could easily be undefeated if they held on to their leads against Burbank and Burroughs and would have showed up in their loss to Crescenta Valley.  Pasadena has shown guts and determination that makes them very dangerous against most teams.

Mustang quarterback Jarron Williams will have his hands full against a tough Bulldog defense.  Look for him to find Ormoni Duncan when he passes.  Muir must get off to a quick start and bury Pasadena to win.

The Bulldogs will run and run all night long.  Aaron Simpson has raised eyebrows in the Valley with big game performances.  Nick Escoe and Charles Hendricks are big-bruising backs that can spread a defense or run through one.  This team doesn’t know the word give up and has bought into Coach McFarland’s teachings.

This is the year, with a playoff berth hanging in the balance, Pasadena wins.

Pasadena 28-20

Nogales (2-7) at West Covina (5-4)
Last Year: West Covina 48-20

Bulldogs clicking at the right time and are peaking when it counts.

West Covina 49-7

South Hills (7-2) at Rowland (8-1)
Last Year: South Hills 45-38

This game lost some of its luster when Raiders quarterback Michael Ball was injured a few weeks ago.

The Huskies have gotten better each and every week since their two losses early in the season.  At that time they were still trying to get their quarterback situation fixed.  That situation was won by Jacob Shirley and it has been the right answer.

Prior to the West Covina game, South Hills was having problems running the ball and found running back Geoffrey Vaughns was the answer for that.  Throw in Ify Umodu and Dakota Behr at receiver and you have one heck of a offensive formula.

Rowland still has weapons.  Quarterback Leonardo Freeman needs to have a big game, it is that simple.  Freeman will have to manage the game from his first snap under center and make the right decisions.  Running back Josh Onovughe is a bruising runner who runs into gaps and finds holes.  Tight end Steven David is one of the best at his position.

The Huskies have too many weapons and win the San Antonio.

South Hills 28-21

Walnut (6-3) at Bonita (3-6)
Last Year:  Bonita 31-7

Mustangs finish out the season with a win and build to next year.

Walnut 35-29
