Good Evening!
I haven’t been this depressed about USC basketball since 1986-87 when Rich Grande was the point guard…
Back in the day I was indifferent about Ken Griffey Jr., I have a hard time with over hype, over blown, over spotlighted stuff…But Griffey, who signed with the Mariners to return for a final season, keeps my interest in baseball. He has 630 homeruns and has been juice free…Something, I think, will endure him even more to his fans, and the casual ones like me, in the years to come.
Did I just mention baseball in November? Gross…sorry….Don’t worry no special comments regarding the McCourt divorce…Just as long as it doesn’t lead Mark Cuban to Chavez Ravine.
This is from the top of my head but Monrovia’s Nick Bueno cleared a thousand yards rushing last week, has there been another area quarterback to rush for a grand outside of Covina’s Jacob Olivas last year and Mike McDonough in 2006? (Please I would love to be corrected on this)
I learned something last night…I’m tight with Squirm up at PHS…
Do you realize Temple City has not lost to San Marino, this Friday’s opponent, since 1997?
The Rams have run off 11 consecutive victories against the Titans. The SM win in ’97 came at home, but they have not won at North Field since 1994.
Last Add Temple City-San Marino 1997: The Titans scored the 20-19 victory when back up quarterback David Grimes went 6-yards to Benny Chang with 57-seconds left in the game. The touchdown was set up when San Marino’s Eric Wei recovered TC quarterback Kyle Sanders’ fumble at the six.
The Rams had a final chance after Greg Flammang returned the kick-off to the Titan 42. A 7-yard completion to Darren King, a pass interference penalty, and a 15-yard run by Jamil Frazier (18-183-yds, TD) put the ball at the five with 12-seconds left. A 23-yard field goal attempt by Geoff Gomez, however, sailed wide.
“We were very lucky to escape,” said then San Marino HC Mike Mooney.
Really Last Add Temple City-San Marino 1997: Mike Mooney is currently the San Marino offensive coordinator.
The basketball schedules arrived at the office yesterday…
FYI: El Monte football HC Joel Sanchez is currently serving at temporary HC of the Lions varsity basketball team…
Since running off nine straight wins from 1967 thru 1975, Pasadena has only five wins in its series against Muir. The last coming in 1995, prior to that you have to go back to 1982 for a Bulldog victory. Hence, PHS principles Aaron Simpson, Shaun Sykes, and Dametre Clark guesting on “The Mid Valley Sports Show” seeking the Mid Valley Karma…
(Note: Once again we emphasize neither the Mid Valley News nor Mid Valley Sports believes in or advocates a spiritual karma, but we do wholly subscribe to a belief in sports karma…so don’t EVER cross us!)
Did you know there are only two high schools in the entire United States named; “South Hills”?
Michael Ball or no Michael Ball, Rowland is still facing South Hills this week with a shot to win the San Antonio League title. Since the formation of the league, the Huskies lead the series 6-1, with the Raiders lone victory coming in 2006.
The difference in the 24-14 Rowland win was provided by Brandon Bolden’s 77-yard interception return for a touchdown. Phillip Chase added a pair of scores on the ground.
I like Tampa Bay’s throwback uniforms…Call me crazy but it makes me nostalgic for James Wilder, Jerry Eckwood, and Ricky Bell.
Well what do you know, Navy wins at Notre Dame and the Irish faithful are talking about giving Charlie Weiss the boot…Other than having my taxes cut, trouble under the Golden Dome is a day-maker for me.
Remember when Derrick Strings was all the rage? Did the transfer from Marshall to Leuzinger help, hurt, or have no bearing?
Josh Lowden wants a nickname…fine… The Monrovia defensive end/linebacker is now “Stone Cutter”… Joshua in “The Ten Commandments” was a stone cutter, considering what Lowden does to opposing offenses, I think it fits.
Stay thirsty my friends…
