South Hills’ quarterback Jacob Shirley, who missed the first round playoff win over Bonita with an injury, is expected to play Friday night against Crescenta Valley. Shirley, who has been instrumental in the Huskies’ San Antonio League title, sprained his MCL in practice the week of the playoff game.

Shirley, a senior, has thrown for 1,087 yards and 11 touchdowns and had 230 yards rushing in eight games. He will test it this week and is waiting for the doctor’s approval.

Vince Hernandez, who played the entire game at quarterback against Bonita, will again get the call if Shirley is unable to go.
