La Mirada’s Landon Jones caught an 86-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter

(La Mirada) – Christian Lara threw four touchdown passes with three of them going to Tony Brown to lead La Mirada to a 35-21 win over Norwalk Friday night.

With the victory the Matadores wrapped up a perfect Suburban League run and finished 9-1 overall.

***On La Mirada’s first possession Brown caught a swing pass from Lara and turned it into a 65-yard touchdown.

***After forcing Norwalk to punt, the Matadores scored again on the next possession when Lara hit a wide open Landon Jones for a 86 yard touchdown pass.

***Running back Sei-j Lauago got into the act catching  a pass out of the backfield and rumbling 40 yards for the score.

***Brown caught an eight-yard strike from Lara later in the second making it 28-0 at the half.

***Norwalk had only three first downs in the first half.

***La Mirada led 35-7 late in the third when Lara hooked up with Brown a third time on a 71-yard catch and run.

***Norwalk scored twice in the fourth quarter on the ground – the last one coming on a four-yard run by Tyrant Davis late in the fourth quarter.

***The Lancers ground game did get going in the second half as Ryan McDowell and Gevon Moore combined for over 130 yards rushing. McDowell busted off a 50-yard run to set up a touchdown.

***Lara had 268 yards passing with 144 of those yards going to Brown.

***La Mirada’s only loss all year was to Servite in week three and went 6-0 in the Suburban. Norwalk went 5-1 in league and 7-3 overall.
