Carson Glazier gunned seven touchdown passes for San Marino

(San Marino) – Carson Glazier fired seven touchdown passes and racked up 452 yards through the air to spark San Marino to a 49-28 win over Claremont Friday night in the first round of the Central Division playoffs.

Glazier threw scoring passes to four different receivers as J.P. Shohfi, Chip Crowley, and Aiden Santino each hauled in two. Glazier was on target all night completing 22 of 28 without an interception. Shohfi, Santino and Crowley all had over 100 yards in receptions.

Claremont and San Marino were trading touchdowns through the second and third quarters and the Wolfpack were still within 35-28 after Duy Tran-Sampson scored on an 11-yard run early in the fourth quarter. But the Titans scored the final two touchdowns to finish Claremont off. Glazier’s final TD strike of the night was a 15-yard bullet to Shohfi.

***San Marino scored on its first two possessions for a 14-0 lead. Both touchdowns came on quick strikes as Glazier hit Nick Pirzada for 52 yards and Crowley for 58.

***A 63-yard touchdown pass to Crowley put the Titans up 21-7 but on the next possession Markelle Davis scored from 31 yards out to cut the lead to 21-14 at the half.

***Tran-Simpson kept the Wolfpack in the game with big runs. He broke loose for a 67-yard run in the third quarter to slice the San Marino margin to 28-21.

***Tran-Sampson had two touchdowns on the night and rushed for 220 yards on 29 carries for Claremont.

***San Marino picked off Claremont twice.

***San Marino scored on four of its first five possessions in the second half.

***Crowley had two receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns and Shohfi hauled in eight catches for 112 yards and a pair of scores.

***Tennyson McFarlane rushed for 100 yards on 13 carries for the Titans.

***San Marino scored 14 points in the first, third and fourth quarters.

***San Marino will face Charter Oak, 49-0 winners over Chino, next week in the round two.
