Los Altos Becomes Midnight For Cinderella Huskies

By Alex Gonzalez

(Walnut)- In the first round of the Central Division playoffs Los Altos running back Tyler Nevens carried the ball 22 times for 152-yards and quarterback Lorenzo Silva threws two touchdown passes in the Conquerors 28-10 win over South Hills Huskies Friday night at Ken Gunn Stadium.

The South Hills season ends with a 6-5 record and a Palomares League title no one expected them to  get after going a dreadful 1-4 to open the campaign. For the 6-5 Conquerors it’s a chance to live and fight another day.

Going into halftime Los Altos was only up 7-0 after Silva connected with wide out Amir Avery for a 52-yard touchdown mid-way through the first quarter.

The Conquerors had a chance to add three in the second quarter but Hunter White was short on his 44-yard field goal attempt.

The Huskies finally got on the board when Manny Munoz converted on a 26-yard field goal, pulling his team win in four points.

On Los Altos ensuing possession, the Conquerors took less than two minutes to drive down the field and end it with a Silva sneak. LA lead 14-3 with 3:06 left in the third quarter.

The scoring continued when Silva connected with Joey Toribio for 41-yards with 8:45 in the fourth. They added a late rushing score when Jack Sheehan walked into the end zone from 20-yards out.

South Hills quarterback Garrett Fonseca connected with Quinn Cotter for a 16-yard touchdown pass as the clocked hit zero, making the final score 28-10
