Game Night: Central Division CIF Playoffs – Quarterfinals (2014)

All games begin at 7pm unless indicated

NOVEMBER 21, 2014

Glendora (9-2, Palomares #2) at Colony (9-2, Mt. Baldy #1) 7:30pm

Matt Fink is a game-time decision heading into a game that is missing both signal callers. Jordan Johnson took over for Josh Thompson and led the Titans to a win over La Canada. This is a big step up compared to the Spartans for Thompson and the Titans. Tartans will have to rely on Ryan DeGuzman if Fink can’t go but still has Andrew Montano to fall back on.

Charter Oak (7-4, Hacienda #1) at San Marino (9-2, Rio Hondo #2)

Chargers are just rolling currently. Winners of four straight and have two shutouts to go with those four wins. Zion Echols ran for 145 yards and four touchdowns last week against Colton. The Titans have been feasting off Rio Hondo League prey and now face their toughest test since their loss to Monrovia on October 10. They have yet to score less than 35 points in any game this season. With Carson Glazier putting up video game numbers this year, it is conceivable that San Marino continues its storybook run.

West Covina (8-3, Hacienda #2) at Bonita (7-4, Palomares at-Large)

Most remember the classic Southeast Division Championship game that came down to the final minute. The Bulldogs won that game 37-33 and have been successful against the Bearcats in recent years. West Covina’s defense is better than Kaiser, but there are issues on the offensive side of the ball. Bonita’s quarterback Tanner East will be the difference in this game.

Monrovia (10-1, Rio Hondo #1) at Los Altos (6-5, Hacienda #3) 7:30pm

Tables could be turned here as the Wildcats head to Hacienda Heights to face the Conquerors after narrowly escaping on September 26 with a 27-25 win. Los Altos will be tough on defense against the high-powered Monrovia offense. In the end, it will be who doesn’t commit the most turnovers that decides this.
