The Ten

(“The Ten” is not a top ten, but ten items worth being included in The TEN)

1.) On this day in 1976 Los Angeles Rams head coach Chuck Knox deceided not to go for it on fourth and goal from the Minnesota Vikings half-yard line in the first quarter. The Rams marched down the field on the game opening drive, but Knox decided to kick a field goal.
The Vikings Nate Allen blocked Tom Dempsey’s kick Bobby Bryant recovered and returned it 90-yards for a touchdown. Minnesota would build a 17-0 lead in the third quarter before Los Angeles rallied.
The Rams final drive to take the lead in the fourth was stopped when Pat Haden underthrew Ron Jessie down the middle of the field and was picked off by Bryant (for the second time).
The temperature was 19 degress, windchill was 7.
