(Los Angeles) – Friday night marked the return of Golden Boy Promotions “Fight Night Club.” The monthly boxing card showcases local fighters in a club like atmosphere which helps to build a local fighter’s fan base. Coming into the fight the United States Olympian, Joseph Diaz Jr., expressed his desire to put on a show for the fans.

He lived up to his word by treating the capacity crowd at L.A.’s Belasco Theater to a display of his full arsenal. Diaz cut off the ring beautifully applying smart pressure, backing Juan Luis Hernandez up all night. When Diaz let his has hands go, the variation of his punches kept Hernandez guessing what was coming next. This allowed Diaz to invest heavily in the body which slowed Hernandez’s movement.

In the end Diaz’s onslaught proved to be too much for Hernandez as he recorded a 4th round  TKO. In each of his last few outings Diaz’s growth as a fighter is evident. He has been more defensively responsible in choosing when to engage, not allowing himself to take unnecessary punches. Offensively his shots are crisp and carry power that may be underrated. As Diaz continues his boxing career he will definitely come across more formidable foes that will provide a greater challenge. But one thing is clear at this point, the sky is the limit for Diaz’s future in the sport. Diaz improves to 15-0, 10 KO’s.
