Covina’s Chelsea Chmela was a perfect four for four and led all players with 20 points. Chmela, along with teammate Marissa Clark, each scooped up four steals.

Jackie Ford scored 10 in addition to a block, 7 steals and 8 rebounds. Raven Dixon muscled in a pair of tough shots early in the game as the Lady Colts’ offense began to hit full stride.

Rowland 42, El Rancho 35

El Rancho looked to run away early jumping out to a 15-2 lead at the end of one, but Rowland had other ideas as they rebounded to beat the Lady Dons 42-35.

El Rancho was limited to just two buckets on five attempts in the second and still clung to a 20-17 lead at halftime before Rowland took control for good with an 8-0 run out the second half gate for a 25-20 advantage.

In the third quarter Kendall Ohara, (8 points, 7 steals), drained a triple and her sister Kelsey Ohara followed with a deuce to make it a seven point Raider ballgame. But El Rancho’s Aisha Diakite tapped in a basket off a Doreen Lopez lob as the third expired to cut the lead to five.  The 6-1 Diakite did everything for El Rancho with 14 points, 18 rebounds, 3 steals, and a blocked shot.

Malissa Gaitan buried two from downtown to keep Rowland’s tempo alive early in the fourth. However, the Raiders missed three consecutive free throws early in the quarter to give El Rancho a shot. The Lady Dons crept to within three points, (38-35), with 31 seconds left on Leahnny Avena’s free throws.

Ohara (Kendall) and Jasmin Lee knocked down 4 of 6 at the line between them in the waning moments to ice the Lady Raider win.

Bedoy also was a force defensively with five steals. Joann Chac kept Gabrielino close with four three pointers and Yesenia Rubio paced Chaffey’s first half with ten points. The two finished as co-scoring leaders with a dozen each.

The Lady Tigers, led by 8 Sia Palei caroms and 7 from both Sepulveda and Rubio, out rebounded Gabrielino 46-31 in the win.
