(Bell Gardens) – Former Schurr head coach Marco Ramirez and offensive coordinator Victor Salazar have joined the staff at Bell Gardens, Salazar confirmed Monday. Ramirez stepped down earlier this year after four years as the HC at Schurr.
Salazar, who coached at Schurr for 23 years, will coach the offensive line and help with play calling for Geoff Ackerman at BG. Ramirez will be working with Peter Soto, another former Schurr coach, on the defensive side of the ball. Ray Solis and Chris Rodriguez have also made the move from Schurr to Bell Gardens.
David Ramos, who had a 13 year run as the head coach at Bell Gardens, is now the head coach at Schurr. Needless to say the Almont could get interesting this year.
Bell Gardens went 4-1 in the Almont last year and beat Schurr 26-18. The Lancers lost to Sierra Canyon in the first round of the playoffs. Schurr went 3-2 in league but missed the playoffs.
Bell Gardens will throw at home against Garfield Wednesday at 4:30.
