(La Habra) – Kevin Oberlander, who was previously on the Whittier Christian staff, and the head coach at Western Christian for the last four years, has returned to Whittier Christian as the defensive coordinator Herald Head Coach Sergio Gradilla confirmed Monday.

Oberlander went 3-7 in 2011 and then 7-3 in 2012 as the HC at Western Christian. He led the Fighting Lancers to the semi finals in 2013 going 12-1 overall. He then resigned from Western Christian after the 2013 season when he was offered the head coaching job at Marina in Huntington Beach. But when the offer didn’t pan out he returned to Western and went 2-8 last season.

Oberlander was the quarterbacks coach and the special teams coach at Whittier Christian in 2009 and 2010 when the Heralds went to the Semis and then the Finals against Monrovia.

“He will be our DC and doing our strength and conditioning as well,” Gradilla said. “We are excited that he is back.”

Last year the Heralds went 1-3 in the Olympic League and 1-9 overall.
