(La Puente) – Scott Morrison has stepped down as the head coach and Athletic Director at La Puente to take the head coach position at Corona Santiago. Morrison resigned Thursday morning and was named HC at Corona Santiago Friday.

“This is just a great opportunity for me and my family. Sometimes it’s just right and sometimes it’s not. This was just right,” Morrison said. “This is an opportunity that was hard to say no to.”

Morrison spent the last two years at La Puente going 7-4 each year. The Warriors lost in the playoffs in the first round in both years.

Morrison has also had head coaching jobs at Damien and Workman.

“I valued my time at La Puente. It was a real growth experience and I learned an awful lot overall. It was just a great experience,” Morrison said.

The Corona Santiago job opened up when Jeff Steinberg moved to Rancho Verde.

“I’m competitive and this is a great challenge for me, and I always love a great challenge. It’s an opportunity to compete at the highest level and I’m looking forward to it,” Morrison added.

La Puente will begin the search for a new coach immediately.
