Bechtel Leaves South Hills for Damein
By Tim Peterson (La Verne) – Matt Bechtel, who is coming off a CIF championship season at South Hills, has left the school to take over as the head coach at Damien.
Monrovia-Glendora in One Final Tune Up
(Monrovia) – Monrovia and Glendora squared off in a scrimmage Friday night in a final preparation for the real season that begins next week. The Wildcats open up on the road against Burbank next Friday night while Glendora faces Damien Thursday night at Citrus College.

Damien Opens Season with a “W”
By Joseph Rodriguez (La Verne) – Damien played host to Chino to kick off the 2016 prep football season. After a first half that was plagued by turnovers, Damien took control in the second half to beat the Cowboys 21-6.
Paraclete Prevails at Bonita Air Assault
By Tim Peterson (La Verne) – Paraclete, not a team that is traditionally known for throwing the ball, won the Bonita Air Assault Saturday knocking off Valencia in six overtimes in the championship game. The Spirits also beat Cathedral along the way to get to the final game.
Morrison Leaves La Puente; Takes over at Corona Santiago
By Tim Peterson (La Puente) – Scott Morrison has stepped down as the head coach and Athletic Director at La Puente to take the head coach position at Corona Santiago. Morrison resigned Thursday morning and was named HC at Corona Santiago Friday.
