(Glendora) – Azusa Pacific capped off its spring workouts with its annual Brick vs. Black game Saturday at Citrus College.
The game allows the coaching staff to see their players in live competition and how they perform in actual game circumstances. Andrew Elffers (Brick) and Chad Jeffries (black) handled the quarterback duties, while running backs Deven Boston and transfer Jake Payton looked good as they each scored a touchdown. The Brick ultimately came out on top and received ice cream sundaes as a reward.
“We’ll see if there’s anything left over for the black team,” joked HC Victor Santa Cruz to the team after the scrimmage.
The Cougars are coming off a big year in which they finished 10-1 overall.
