(Monrovia) – Monrovia let a 7-0 lead slip away but bounced back to beat Lompoc 10-7 Friday in the CIF Division 5 quarterfinals.

The Wildcats will face Rio Hondo League rival Temple City Tuesday in the semi finals.

When Monrovia jumped on Lompoc early it looked like the Cats would cruise to the semi finals. But Lompoc used a couple of errors and several walks to plate seven in the bottom of the fourth to get even. The Wildcats however wasted no time in answering.

In the bottom of the fourth Marcelo Vega led off with a base hit and eventually scored on a bases loaded walk to give M-Town an 8-7 lead. Anthony Ramirez, who had drawn a walk then scored on a single by Fidel Jiorge. A sacrifice fly by Juan Quinonez scored the third run of the inning.

The Cats pitching staff made the three runs stand up the rest of the way. Isaiah Ramos started, and Justin Rosedale and Brian McConnell finished up. McConnell relieved Rosedale with two on and one out in the top of the seventh and slammed the door on Lompoc to ice the victory.

Monrovia, who improved to 24-4 overall, was 3-0 against Temple City this year. First pitch is set for 3:15 pm. A coin flip Saturday morning will determine the site.
