Josh Staumont is singing Kansas City here I come!

(Azusa) Cougar right handed pitcher Josh Staumont was selected by Kansas City in the second round, 64th overall in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.Staumont, a junior, becomes the highest drafted baseball player in Azusa Pacific history. Previously Jeff Robinson was selected 69th overall by the Detroit Tigers in 1983. APU has had 39 players selected in the draft in school history.

In 2015, Staumont went 6-2 for the Cougars with an ERA of 3.67 with 109 strike outs and 54 walks in 68.2 innings pitched. In two years with APU, Staumont has a record of 13-8 with a 3.97 ERA. He has 198 strikeouts as well in those two years which is the most by any Cougar pitcher for a two year period.
