All games are 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated

Thursday September 10

Burroughs (0-1) at Rosemead (0-2)

Burroughs is looking for a win after falling to Calabasas in the opener. Rosemead competed in Zero Week against Northview. Last week vs. D Ranch? Not so much. Despite missing some key players, a 49-0 loss always stings. Burroughs should have enough to get it done. Keep an eye on Indians running back Chance Bell who rushed for 149 yards last week.

Mira Costa (1-0) at La Serna (2-0) (at Pioneer)

La Serna is doing it minus Margarito while facing a schedule that would make Notre Dame cringe. The Lancers get another tough one this week in Mira Costa who pummeled Torrance 55-14 last week. The Lancers will hang around again but this time fall short. Mira Costa grabs the road win.

Friday September 11

Moorpark (2-0) at St. Francis (1-0)

The Golden Knights coming off of a win over Westco now get a PAC 5 foe in Moorpark. The Musketeers have outscored their two opponents 55-6. St. Francis has a shot but a mistake against a team of this caliber will kill them. Moorpark gets out of town with a win.

Monrovia (0-2) at Arcadia (0-1)

Monrovia finally gets off the floor. The Wildcats have have faced a pair of aces but this is one hand that they’ll win. Arcadia can score. We saw that against Bell Gardens. But the Wildcats have enough weapons even without quarterback Asaph Zamora who is out with an injured shoulder. He’ll be replaced by Richie Schroeder, (really, that’s his name). Just give the ball to Lawrence Spicer.

Dominguez (1-1) at Compton (0-1) 5:00 p.m.

The Dons got their first win last week and look like a team that is destined for some good things, Royce Anson has 280 yards rushing in two games. Compton won’t be able to slow things down. Dominguez jumps out early and never looks back.

Alemany (2-0) at Downey (1-1)

Like Hart last week, it’s another monster for the Vikings. Alemany has scorched its first two opponents 103-7 including a 42-0 thrashing last week of Central Division champ Colony. Alemany wins, make no mistake. The question is how long can Downey hang around?

Bell Gardens (2-0) at Norwalk (1-1) (at Excelsior Adult School)

In the last few years this game would have been a blood letting. Now Bell Gardens has made strides and may have caught up. BG can outscore you like it did two weeks ago over Arcadia and can out slug you like it did last week against Cal. Norwalk however is still something to deal with. Plus the Lancers are still smarting from last week’s pillaging by St. John Bosco. In the end, NorRock gets it done.

Mater Dei (2-0) at La Mirada (1-1)

Another behemoth for Mike Moschetti’s crew. The Matadores rebounded against Charter Oak last week but this is a whole different kettle of fish. Mater Dei is…well, Mater Dei. The Monarchs have taken care of Bishop Amat and Tesoro so far. This will be their third straight victory.
