Friday
Almont League

Schurr (1-4, 0-0) at Montebello (4-1, 0-0)

With as much pride as is on the line in this one and Isaac Mendibles health in question, this one might turn out closer than anticpated. But then again maybe not.

Mission Valley League

Gabrielino (1-4, 0-1) at El Monte (3-3, 0-1)

Two teams playing for a shot at third place in the MVL and one still with hopes for the post season. The Eagles would like nothing more than to spoil the Lions chances to get into the playoffs.

Miramonte League

Bassett (3-2, 0-0) at Ganesha (5-1, 0-0)

The Giants haven’t had the toughest schedule but have beaten the teams they should have handily. The Olympians played well until they ran into Covina. Second place in the Miramonte is on the line.

Montview League

Sierra Vista (2-3, 0-0) at Baldwin Park (2-3, 0-0)

There Braves have won two straight while the Dons have lost two coming into a game that could well determine the Montview title. Momentum means a lot.

Non-league

Sierra Canyon (5-0, 0-0) at Nordhoff (1-5, 0-0)

Don’t let Nordhoff’s 1-5 record fool you. This is the Trailblazer’s toughest test of the year. And, it’s on the road in Ojai. Still, Sierra Canyon gets it done.

Westlake (4-1, 0-0) at Paraclete (3-3, 0-0) at Antelope Valley College

A win in this game would be nice for the Spirits but more important is being competitive and coming out of the game healthy.

Viewpoint (4-2, 0-0) at Oak Park (5-0, 0-0)

As with Paraclete winning this game is not of utmost importance for the Patriots. Staying healthy for the October 23 showdown with the Spirits is the higher call.
