Southeast Division Game Night: Week 5

Burbank had reason to celebrate last week. The Bulldogs get Muir this week.

All games are 7:00 p.m. Unless otherwise indicated

Friday October 2

Cathedral (4-0) vs. Verbum Dei (2-3) at Southwest College

Another Phantom cakewalk before Angeles League starts. Verbum Dei has been beaten up by La Canada and Ontario Christian. This won’t be close. Cathedral rolls.

St. Francis (4-0) at Calabasas (5-0)

Another tough test for the Golden Knights. Seems like they have one every week. Calabasas is undefeated and has lit up the scoreboard on four of its five games. It might come down to a field goal in the fourth quarter. Calabasas gets the win at home.

Calabasas 27 St. Francis 24

Gardena (3-1) at Warren (3-1)

Warren is looking to have a break out year. The Bears only loss was to a solid Buena Park team. They’ve outscored their last two opponents 115-0. Gardena has won three games against less than stellar opposition. Warren wins its fourth.

Warren 38 Gardena 7

Mayfair (2-3) at Norwalk (1-4) at Excelsior Adult School

Norwalk needs a win to stay in the league hunt. Mayfair trying to go to 2-0 in the Suburban. It just doesn’t seem the same. Mayfair comes away victorious.

Mayfair 21 Norwalk 13

Whittier (2-2) at Schurr (1-3) at Montebello

Whittier has already dropped two sixty bombs in its first four games. Schurr has struggled although the Spartans have had a brutal schedule. They match up with Whittier but might have trouble stopping them. Whittier outscores them.

Whittier 34 Schurr 24

Pacific League

Pasadena (3-1) at Arcadia (2-2)

Pasadena has started off fast but the Bulldogs haven’t exactly been playing the Monsters of the Midway. Arcadia played Monrovia and Bell Gardens tough in its two losses and did beat Maranatha. The Apaches get the nod.

Muir (0-4) at Burbank (3-1) at Burroughs

This could be a long year for the Mustangs. Burbank gained control of the Pacific last week with a big win over Crescenta Valley. Muir should hang around for awhile but Burbank gets the win. Bulldogs won’t slip here.

Burbank 20 Muir 10

Crescenta Valley (2-2) at Glendale (1-3)

The Falcons looking to get some revenge after a heartbreaking loss last week. Unfortunately for the Glendale faithful, the Nitros will be on the receiving end of CV’s frustrations. CV…big.
