1. Ken Griffey Jr. is voted in to the MLB Hall of Fame with a record 99% of the votes. He appeared on 437 of 440 ballots cast.

2. Former Maranatha Minuteman Tyler Dorsey scored 17 points to help lead Oregon past Cal 68-65

3. No surprise that the Denver Broncos have named Payton Manning to the starting quarterback role to start the playoffs.

4. Mike Piazza received enough votes (365) in his fourth time on the ballot and will also be inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame.

5. Finalization of of the deal to sign Japanese right-hander Kenta Maeda being held up due to possible elbow issues.

6. Clancy Pendergast is reported to be returning to USC as the defensive coordinator. Pendergast was the Trojan’s D.C. in 2013 when the defense was ranked #1 in the PAC 12.

7. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fire Lovie Smith after two seasons. Smith was 6-10 in 2015 and 8-24 overall in his term as head coach.

8. The APU men’s basketball team returns to the Felix Events Center tonight at 7:30 to take on Dixie State.

9. On this day in 1972 the Lakers chalked up their record 33rd straight victory.
