(Azusa) – In their first home game of 2016, Azusa Pacific continued their offensive explosion as they defeated Dixie State for the second time during the PacWest Conference schedule, 87-61.
The Cougars were led by Allison Greene’s 24 points and Kelly Hardeman scored 16 points. Hardeman finished with a team high seven rebounds and four blocks.
Azusa Pacific came out pressing the Red Storm early and often as they raced out to a 17-8 lead five minutes into the game. The Cougars added to Dixie State’s misery by shooting a mind-blowing 58.5% from the field in the first-three quarters to take a 29-point lead into the final stanza.
The Cougars demonstrated their torrid shooting as well as the third quarter as Azusa Pacific went 11-of-15 from the field to pull away for the lopsided win.
Quick Hits:
***** Hardeman managed to score only four points in the first half.
***** APU’s Maggie Dumphy finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Her inside game early in the first half helped the Cougars establish a post presence.
***** APU outscored Dixie State 12-2 on fast break points.
***** Red Storm center Taylor Mann came into the game averaging 18 points a game. She was held to 12 in the loss.
***** In their previous meeting at Dixie State, APU won 93-69.
