Southeast Division Defensive Coordinator of the Year: Cathedral’s Lance Fauria

cathedral phantomsCathedral’s defense pitched two shutouts and allowed just 13 points or less in seven of its 13 games, and 20 points or less in all but two games.

The Phantoms allowed 197 points overall, an average of just over 15 points per game. At 15.15 Cathedral averaged slightly less than Southeast champion La Mirada who averaged 15.68 in 16 games. Cathedral also picked off 19 passes, and recovered 14 fumbles with a ball hawking defense.

Cathedral, 11-2 overall, advanced all they way to the Southeast Semi Finals before falling to the Matadores due in large part to the defensive schemes of Lance Fauria. The Phantoms always have athletes, but it takes somebody special to bring it all together. This year, on the defensive side, that somebody was DC Lance Fauria. He is our Southeast Division Defensive Coordinator of the Year.

You are kidding right? Do these stats count the 38 points they gave up to La Mirada? LM pitched 4 shut outs and counting league and postseason (12 games) only gave up 77 points. And look at that schedule Cathedral played.
