1. Oakland Raiders defensive end Justin Tuck announced his retirement after 11 seasons. Tuck won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants where he spent the first nine years of his career.

2. Al Golden, fired as the University of Miami head coach in October, was hired as tight ends coach of the Detroit Lions.

3. Duke has fallen out of the AP men’s basketball top 25 for the first time since 2007.

4. Pasadena’s Tyrek Adams is averaging 18.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

5. Gabrielino has won 34 straight MVL games dating back to 2013. The Eagles are currently 20-3 overall and 12-0 in league.

7. La Mirada’s Tevaka Tuloti (class of 2016) has committed to New Mexico.

8. DB/WR Micah Croom, also of La Mirada (2016) has committed to Dartmouth. Croom finished the semester with a 4.1 GPA.

9. Happy Birthday to former El Monte High School/MLB star Fred Lynn who turns 64 today.

10. On this day in 2008, the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII. Eli Manning is named MVP.
