1.) Of the 36 schools in the, soon to be defunct, Mid-Valley Division Arroyo’s Jim Singiser, heading into his 14th season, is the longest serving head coach. He took over at Arroyo in 2003, the same season Joel Sanchez took over at El Monte.

2.) The Kansas City Royals and third baseman Mike Moustakas agreed Thursday to a $14.3 million, two-year contract that not only avoids arbitration this year but also buys out his final year.

4.) Former MLB reliever Don “Fullpack” Stanhouse turns 65 today. After the 1979 season the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Stanhouse to 5-year, $2.1-million deal. Called “Fullpack” by Baltimore Orioles Manager Earl Weaver because he smoked a pack of cigarettes when he closed for the Birds, Stanhouse appeared in just 21 games for the Dodgers.

5.) Former Arroyo linebacker/hitman Efrain Oquendo turns 29.

6.) The Oakland Raiders agreed to a one-year extension lease extension on Thursday to remain at the Oakland Coliseum through the 2016 season.

7.) “The Democratic National Committee just announced the actual final results of the Super Bowl and it’s now a tie as Carolina has been awarded 14 ‘Superpoints.’”—Dennis Miller

8.) Shaquille O’Neal, Yao Ming, Allen Iverson, Tom Izzo, Jerry Krause, Sheryl Swoopes, Marv Albert, and former NBA chief of officials, Darell Garretson have been nominated for induction to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

10.) The Mission Valley League’s top returning receiver in 2016 is Rosemead, junior, Darien Camacho with 50 catches and 11 touchdowns.
