Keith Jones

Good Morning!

John Locke

T-Minus-226 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

I must have missed it, or perhaps its totally under the radar, but Workman is looking for a new football coach as Fred De Lelio has stepped down after four seasons to spend more time with his family.

De Lelio went 20-21 with the Lobos, including two playoff appearances, after inheriting a team that was winless in 2005.

With a victory over the Lady Lions on Friday night, the Rosemead Lady Panthers improved to 8-0 and locked up at least a share of the Mission Valley League crown for the second consecutive year.

Because the MVL is a league of streaks when it comes to girls basketball, it should be noted that Jay Gauthier’s Mead squad is currently riding a 14-game league winning streak.

Did Cal’s Terris Jones land anywhere?

I think its great news that Aram Tolegian is coming back to the Tribune…He may be controversial sometimes, you may not always like the lunch updates…but the dude has passion. And passion is everything.

Lakers lose to Nuggets playing without Carmelo Anthony…Nah, nothing wrong here.

You have to believe Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith are automatics for the Hall of Fame today, but the rest of the list is less certain in regards to getting in this year.

Tim Brown, Chris Carter, will get in eventually, I think Andre Reed is much more borderline. Dick Lebeau is going to go in because of his body of work.

Carter really should get in today…Then again all he ever did was score touchdowns.

Charles Haley, besides being looney tunes, has five Super Bowl rings to his credit and should have made it to Canton before Fred Dean.

I’m rooting for Roger Craig, who should have gone in much sooner. Craig was a dominant player running, catching, blocking…The only reason he doesn’t have the eye-popping numbers is because he played for the San Francisco 49ers. Picked in the second round of the 1983 draft, Craig may be the greatest of all of Bill Walsh’s selections because, unlike Rice, everyone had a shot at this guy.

Have you taken a good look at Keith Jones? Have you seen “Lost”? Honestly, Jones is John Locke.

We listed Tommy Cogburn as signing with Southwest Oklahoma State on Wednesday. That was half true. Cogburn is at the school, but he signed much earlier and enrolled at mid-year.

Last Note Cogburn: He’s not alone. With him in Dust Bowl country are Isaac Tucker (West Covina/Citrus) and Bronze Withem (San Dimas/Citrus).

In what seemed like a lock a few days ago the 2001 Temple City Rams have fallen way behind in the poll to pick the best Old School Mid Valley team of the decade. Right now the 2003 San Gabriel Matadors are cruising.

I told you Dwight Freeney was going to play.

I used to be indifferent, and I still don’t think he has the skills, but I am rooting for Tim Tebow to make it big time in the NFL.

Last Word: Fullerton College assistant Jerry Urias expects Tra Sumler to be fully recovered from a busted ankle and to have an awesome 2010 season down in the OC.

Stay thirsty my friends…
