(South El Monte) – The South El Monte Eagles 2016 season came to an end Friday night at the hands of the Rancho Christian Eagles 42-28 in the semi-final of the CIF Division 13 playoffs at The Swamp on the campus of South El Monte High School.

Rancho Christian established their ground dominance early, when junior RB

Jaden Schieberl scored on a 36 yard TD run with 9:52 remaining in the opening quarter. Schieberl, who had 14 carries for 240 yards, found the end zone three more times…scoring on runs of 6, 47, and 69 yards. Schieberl was complemented by sophomore Malosi Napoleon, who carried the ball 14 times for 122 yards, scoring on runs of 15 and 31 yards.

South El Monte was led by a trio of underclassmen. Junior Sal Tovar opened the SEM scoring with a 64 yard run and Junior Daniel Olmos then found junior Richard Nava for a 36- yard score. Olmos also scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 1 and 36 yards, respectively.

South El Monte finishes their season with a record of 11-2, 5-1 in the Mission Valley League. Rancho Christian, 11-2, 5-0 in the South Valley League, advances to the CIF Division 13 Championship. Game location and time will be announced.
