Arroyo alum and MMA standout Aaron “Blood Spiller” Miller has opened up his new gym BloodBank MMA in Hacienda Heights.

“I’m loving it- just passing on my knowledge is great,” Miller said. Miller, (10-5), will be fighting on March 4 at Smackdown at the Shrine against Team Quest’s Corey Grant (3-1). Coming off a knockout win in his last performance Miller is looking to finish Grant early in the third round.

Johnny Espinoza (3-0 pro, 7-0 amateur) is one of Miller’s pro lightweight fighters fighting out of BloodBank MMA. Espinoza is an El Rancho High School alum. He played linebacker on the 2004 squad and also played at Cerritos College and ELAC after an injury kept him out of San Diego State. He has an A.A. from ELAC and is looking to continue his education and get his B.A. and become a counselor for kids. Espinoza started training two years ago and has been under Miller for a year. He has not been defeated in 10 fights. Espinoza gives his credit to God and looks up to such fighters as Mike Tyson, BJ Penn, and Georges St. Pierre. He is looking for his next bout to be at the Bonaventure Hotel on April 3.

Cesar Urquilla (2-1 pro, 7-1 amateur) is a welterweight fighter fighting out of BloodBank MMA. Urquilla said he feels comfortable on the ground, but won’t hesitate to take his next opponent Joseph Lewis (1-1) to the ground. He credits Miller with his success. Urquilla indicated he’s shooting for the stars in the sport.

Miller also has Arroyo alum and Mid Valley All Century team running back Anthony Olivas under him. Olivas just had his first amateur fight. There are also about a dozen more amateur fighters that will be making their debuts later this year.
