(Pasadena) – Maranatha defensive lineman Terrance Lang has committed to USC it was confirmed late last week.

“This has been a long enjoyable process, full of hard decisions. First I’d like to thank God for putting me in the position that I am in today, and my family and coaches for putting me in the best position to succeed,” Lang wrote on Twitter. “Lastly I’d like to thank all of the coaches who offered me scholarships and for believing in me and giving me an opportunity. After a long talk with my family I decided to commit to the University of Southern California.”

Lang, 6-5, 278, also plays basketball at Maranatha. Last year he had 40 total tackles and two sacks in eight games for the Minutemen.

At UCLA Football Players take the same Classes with 4.0 Students. That’s why a lot of 5 Star Kids don’t want to go there. They do not want the challenge. They want the easy way out so they go to SC.

I’m sorry, where did I bash this young man? In fact, I was arguing that USC does, in fact, want him for the fact that he is a worthy player in his own right, not merely to keep him away from their opponents.

As for the Communications major bit, it’s hardly news that most major college programs do little to encourage their athletes to actually get an education, and that in fact they are much more likely to actively impede it. It’s a sad fact that the “full ride” scholarship is frequently a lousy deal for far too many young men. Again, this is not in any way a criticism of those whom the system takes advantage of.

Or, yeah, maybe I’m just a jealous UCLA fan or something.

@anonymous @scholershiplimits, just witnessed those communication majors win the Rose Bowl. So either your both fans of that JC program that’s in westwood or your two guys that blame everyone else because you couldn’t make it. Either way stop bashing this young man for his achievements. We need more young men like him to succeed in life. Good luck young man. God Bless and Fight On !!!!

That sort of thing happened at the big programs back in the day. With only 85 scholarships to give now, they don’t waste them on kids just for the sake of hoarding. And even if you’re right, that means USC is wasting a scholarship on a kid whom they think is good enough to hurt them if he played for another team.

You’re right about the classroom though. Lots of Communications majors on USC’s roster.

SC offer’s Full Rides to Football Players so other Schools can’t recruit them. They sit on the Bench for 4 Year’s and and may see a Real Classroom twice.

Wow, there is really something wrong with some of you. Why are you bashing this kid?

I think the SC coaching staff knows a bit more about football than you haters. They aren’t giving a full ride to just any kid.

Why post negative comments about this young man? Are you jealous because he earned a chance to continue his playing days at a D1 school?
I have never sen you play so I can’t comment on your “game”,but I am happy that you will get to play D1 football. Good luck. Get that degree!

Now everyone is on the USC bandwagon. If a Kid goes to SC, He will be on The sidelines for 4 year’s. Again, If you do not want to see a classroom than you go there.

Remember that even though God has not seen fit to bless the majority of athletes with an offer like this, those guys are blessed too. They have been given the gift of mediocrity.

Maranatha 2016: 3-6-1, Division 12, team power rating of -5. Averaged 4 tackles a game. If you have size and speed they will find you. If you do not no amount of heroics or stats will get you an offer. So when you play football little guy or fat slow guy have fun or don’t play.
