Joe T. is ready to play center field for the Mets if they need him.

Joe T. feels for Raider fans.

“Do I dare disturb the universe? In a minute there is time. For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.”—T.S. Eliot

Kick it!

Right off the Top: I always knew about Hall of Fame Detroit Lions quarterback Bobby Layne’s curse after he was dealt to the Pittsburgh Steelers while Ike was still in the White House.

I did not know that current Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford went to the same high school as Layne.

Man, cue the Twilight Zone music.

Reminder to Green Bay Packers Fans: Jared Cook giveth…and Jared Cook taketh away…over and over again.

***

Who would you rather be…A Raiders fan seeing your team in the playoffs for the first time in 14 years with Connor Cook making his first start…or a Texans fan seeing your team in the playoffs again with Brock Osweiler at quarterback?

Speaking of which…why didn’t the Raiders go vertical?

Do the Dodgers have a second baseman yet?

Remember, way back, what a high school football game looked like when the local cable channel was providing coverage? Shaky, bouncy, and all the action was from field level?

Re-watching the Arroyo CIF title win, which holds up as well as a Seinfeld episode, I was thinking how far the broadcasting has come.

My thought, now, is that Fox should incorporate some overhead drones to give us that angle.

I know there’s a CIF “rule” about drones, but that didn’t seem to stop the ones I saw this season…give the rights to Fox and take the coverage to another level…

I’m waiting for the Facebook link to show up saying:

I have to say; I’m really not interested in the Clemson-Alabama game…the national championship game…Nope…No Sam Darnold…No Joe T. watching…

Besides getting a new offensive line it is imperative that the Rams re-sign Trumaine Johnson and T.J. McDonald…

Note to Rams: Trade Todd Gurley while he still has value.

Midbits (same as ‘Tidbits’)

Midbits: Arroyo alum Bill Hobbs turns 54 today. Hobbs was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 11th round of the 1981 MLB Draft. He was a left-handed pitcher. In the same draft, the Cubs selected Joe Carter, Vance Loveless, and Darrin Jackson…Hobbs chose to attend Cal State Fullerton.

Midbits: It would have been nice to hear some boos from the fans at the Coliseum last Sunday afternoon as the Rams were in the midst of being hammered, 44-6 by the Arizona Cardinals…While attending my first Rams game at the Coliseum since 1978 all I noticed was an improvement in the food selections and a bunch of fans, wearing jerseys, wanting to appear on Flex-Cam…as far as caring about what was happening the field…It did not seem to be a priority.

Midbits: Finally, the Kansas City Royals traded Jarrod Dyson. That guy’s been on the block in KC since Willie Wilson was playing there.

Midbits: If you’ve ever been around Peterson or Barker in the morning…then you’d know the Legion of Boom has a entirely different meaning.

Midbits: “What’s the last possible day I have to take my Christmas tree down?”—South El Monte alum Annette Storms

@74: I guess I will have to return one of my Pulitzers. I totally froze trying to sound out “which”. Witch is what I came up with. I almost got away with it.

I’am pretty sure that background character you speak of is already playing. The QB for Clemson does all those things on occasion.

Hey Joe T, too bad you missed a great college football game, which happened to decide the national championship. “No Sam Darnold”? Lol What, Deshaun Watson not worth the price of admission for you?

Why in the world would anyone want a witch to insult Joe T? That’s just so wrong….

I can find nothing in this piece with witch to insult you or to disagree with you. Happy New Year!

From Joe T: So it must have been a pretty lousy piece 🙂 …. Happy New Year to you as well! I’m working on a background character in my next football book that sees time at safety/receiver/punter/and plays quarterback.
