1.) MLB Opening Day 45 days away.

2.) Former El Monte HC David Coldiron turns 54 today.

3.) The Miami Dolphins (yesterday—2/16) released defensive end Mario Williams. Williams was the number one overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans (ahead of Reggie Bush & Vince Young). He’s played in 158 of a potential 176 games—11 of those games were missed in the 2011 season. After six years in Houston, he played for four years in Buffalo and spent last season in Miami. He has 97.5 career sacks but recorded only 1.5—in 13 games—in 2016.

5.) Michael Jordan turns 54 today.

6.) Former Baltimore Orioles catcher, Matt Wieters signs with the Tampa Bay Rays.

7.) Saskatchewan Roughriders…Open negotiations with agent Leigh Steinberg who represents former NFL quarterback Vince Young. Young, 33, has not played since 2011.

8.) Los Angeles Lakers at All-Star break: 19-39.

9.) West Covina boys basketball teams loses at Arroyo Grande, 57-43, after traveling 200 miles north on Wednesday evening. The Bulldogs finished 15-13 and in third place in the Hacienda League.

10.) “Pete Finebaum, the unabashed SEC water carrier, really needs to get his facts straight.”—Michigan HC, Jim Harbaugh on the ESPN analyst calling him a cheater.
