(Glendora) –  Former Los Altos standout, David Jimenez has accepted an offer to play at Azusa Pacific this year he confirmed Monday.

Jimenez, a defensive lineman, spent last season at Mt. San Antonio College and was weighing other offers before deciding on APU.  Here is a statement he posted on Twitter.

“First off I would like to thank God for the opportunity he has given me to play this game. I would also like to thank my family, friends and coaches for always believing in my ability. I am very thankful to Mt. SAC for giving me a home to prepare me for the next level. Although it has been a long process I have always trusted myself and I am blessed to say I know where I am going to continue my academic and athletic career. I am officially committed to Azusa Pacific University on a full football scholarship. #GoCougars.”

Jimenez really is a great player, and I wish him the best as he moves on. The item of note in this piece, however, is the mention of Mt. SAC: if each reader were given $50,000 for each time that school had been mentioned on these pages, we’d all still be where we are.

Great player! I remember watching him his junior year and was easily dominating the line of scrimmage. I saw some of his senior games and it was a mismatch for any offensive lineman that went up against him. This is a nice pick up by APU. Will definitely be a playmaker.
