The TEN

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1.) Former El Monte basketball forward, Chuck Jeffrey turns 54 today.

2.) “So far 24 of the 26 picks have ‘a high motor.’”—@BeemieAwards via Twitter during Thursday’s NFL Draft.

3.) “Top Oline Coaches:
Mike Mooney at South El Monte took a 3-7 team prior to his arrival, and launched them to 11-2 and a semi finals run. In the process producing a 2800 yard running back. Hands down one of the best in the area.
Chuck Leonardis at Arroyo has brought a toughness to a usually finesse offense for the Knights. Arroyo is a playoffs stalwart but had the reputation early exits. Enter Coach L, and arguably his Oline had the biggest part of the the CIF championship. With a sophomore QB, young receivers and a small running back. The Oline plowed through defenders all the way to the championship.”—MVS commenter “AllthingsMVL”

4.) On this date in 1956, Cincinnati Reds outfielder Frank Robinson hits his 1st of 586 home runs. Robinson would go one to become MLB’s first African-American manager and be elected to the Hall of Fame.

5.) The New York Mets have lost 10 of their last 11 games. Manager Terry Collins was heard quoting Tommy Lasorda: “I ain’t never been so f-bombing horse-bleep in all my f-bombing life!”

6.) “? Is Marcel Perez from Northview continuing his verbal barrage against San Dimas. He’s still mad SD has rings and and the only rings he has are deep fried breaded onion rings from His favorite fast food joint. BOOM!”—MVS commenter “Anonymous”

7.) Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher, Shelby Miller diagnosed with torn UCL.

8.) The Los Angeles Chargers draft Clemson wide receiver, Mike Williams with the seventh overall pick. TBH, Coach Mike Mooney would also have been a good hire for Herbert Hoover High…

Its always nice when you are flying so high! What a prediction! I’ll bet,(sarcastically) that your prediction has been wrong, lets say, a dozen times in the last 4 decades! LMAO! You are really going out on a limb for this one. Wow! a “Morris Woodruff” prediction! Let me see, Oh I predict that New England Patriots might make the playoffs this year. Oh thats right they won the Super Bowl!
Your Knights should be out of the Mission Valley. Due to success, the new playoff system, and your enrollment that has between 300-700 more boys to choose from.

Oh, I have another idea, Why don’t you play one of the 3 schools that are smaller than you? They happen to be in Concord California. my amazing prediction, you loose! LOL !

Good Offensive Line coached in general are a rarity especially at a school like Arroyo. Must good Oline guys are very well compensated for their work… a stipend just doesn’t cut for those guys. They are literally the engine that drives the machine. Jim Singiser is definitely fortunate to have him if he’s truly smart he’d appoint an assistant to him and his job would be to learn everything he teaches inside and out.

I second the opinion on Leonardis…he is a rarity these days, someone who is actually very good at what he does. I only wonder how many years of Chuck’s help Singiser will receive before another head coaching job lures Leonardis away.

One conversation with Coach Chuck Leonardis and you know exactly why he is so valuable to the Arroyo football program. Tough, Foul- mouthed, unshaven and tremendously intelligent. Just what you want in an OLine coach. Arroyo will Dominate MVL once again. I’m calling it now nobody not even SEM will be within 3 TDs of the Knights!

Correct, and it should not bother you lonely pathetic name callers with no communication skills when you get called out. FYI, being able to laugh off and accept your own failings is not actually an asset.

If you don’t like being called fat then do something about it. I am sure fat people know they are fat so it shouldn’t bother them when someone is stating a fact about their weight

Fat jokes on a coach (or anyone for that matter) have to be the weakest arguments to make. You don’t have anything of substance so you call out a guy’s weight. SMH.
Sounds like a bunch of little girls in a playground.
