Jesse Ceniceros steps down at Chino

(Chino) – After two years, Jesse Ceniceros has stepped as head coach of the Chino Cowboys football program.

Ceniceros finished with an overall record of 13-10 and guided the Cowboys to the playoffs in both seasons. In 2015 Chino was 9-3 overall and advanced to the second round of the playoffs before falling to Summit. Last season the Cowboys were 4-7 and lost to Northview in the first round of the Division 8 playoffs.

Ceniceros was the head coach at Norwalk before moving over to Chino. Ceniceros indicated that he will get back into coaching when he feels the time is right.

You can’t win consistently or build a program without coaches on campus and an administration that supports getting those coaches on campus. It’s as simple as that.

Maybe he moved to Chino to get closer to home. Then once there, he gained tenure as a teacher as he can no longer be pink slipped if he wasn’t already by March 15. He didn’t like the way things were going so he steps down. Coaching football is a lot of time away from family. Maybe he is over the way high school parents have taken over.

Norwalk was left in great shape. Ceniceros was tired of an admin that threw everything into a suppossd equity with the baseball team. How it was football season and the varsity dealing with a fenced field and have to deal with a game of pepper from the 3 win baseball team in August. After a CIF 13-1 season.

Money issue at Norwalk, Bogus information. Only money issues was two of the equipment helpers went on and Coached Softball and Soccer where thousands of dollars came up missing and since Coach C left it was easy for them two to throw it on him since he had move on. I can guarantee Coach C not going to cut his boys short to pocket a couple of dollars. #DoubleWingFootball!

“I wanna spend more time in my tulip garden and then go to medical school to be a brain surgeon. Oh yeah and spend more time with the family. After that I might coach again in May.”

Trust it’s not money issues and Melendez at Chino is a great principal and supporter of football.

Rumor has it, he left Norwalk not very popular with the administration (money issues) and was burning the same bridges at Chino. If you lose the support of the Administration you lose all possibilities of bending some rules here and there. One hell of a coach for what he did at Norwalk and rebuilding Chino.

Chino might have a crop of uncooperative kids just now, and Jesse is choosing to not deal with the drama, or (more likely) the man has come to realize that the Cowboys job was not as expected, and some ‘last straw’ type of event finally made him pull the plug. Whatever the reason, I wish him well going forward.
