Fanview Lite: March 4, 2010

It will be Myles Carr's turn to drive the Arcadia offense in 2010

Good Afternoon!

T-Minus-190 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

This is interesting: Last night, the Dodgers signed outfielder Garret Anderson to a minor league contract with an invite to big league camp. Anderson is expected to report to Camelback Ranch tomorrow

I got a note from a Bell Gardens fan asking me to remind new San Gabriel HC Jude Oliva that the Lancers return quarterback Josh Adame and running back Steven Ibarra as well as bubbas along the front in David Rosales and Martin Carrillo.

Done.

I’m depressed. Why are the Rams messing around with O.J. Atogwe?

Next thing you know they’ll trade out of the top spot in the draft and move down to get USC’s Joe McKnight.

…Jamie Martin will be the starting quarterback.

…and they still won’t be as bad as the Oakland Raiders.

Do you realize I’ve been doing Fanview Lite for almost a year now? And they thought it would never last.

Have we done an Azusa by the numbers thing lately?

Okay, real quick: In the last two seasons under Joe Scherf the Aztecs are a combined 21-4-0. They are 12-0 in the Montview, 3-2 in the post-season, and have the first semifinal appearance in school history.

While the Pasadena boys basketball team is competing for a title this weekend, Mike McFarland’s football team is looking to build on last year’s 5-5 record. Graduation is going to take a toll, but McFarland does return the centerpiece of his attack in quarterback Aaron Simpson.

Mid Valley staffers Villathedevil & Big George Hernandez seem to be misunderstanding me…I’ll step into the box against La Salle’s Forillo…but if I get some chin music can I charge the mound?

Last Note BG: San Gabriel has won its last three meetings with the Lancers.

The last two seasons have been distinctly un-Arcadia like. Prior to 2008 and 2009 HC Jon Dimalante had only one losing season where he failed to make the playoffs, 1996. You have to go all the way back to 1992 and 1993, under Doug Smith, to find back to back losing seasons.

Last season the Apaches played a lot of underclassmen and suffered for it. But now the inexperienced are experienced and part of that group is junior-to-be quarterback Myles Carr.

Carr is athletic, has a good arm, and split playing time with Garrett Tuck after the senior went down with an injury.

We like Lagace, you can talk Lagace, but we believe it will be a Carr that drives Arcadia back into CIF play in 2010.

Then again, the way the Pacific is trending, nothing can be certain. You might not want to listen to me, but there is talent in Glendale.

It was interesting the Celtics signed Michael Finley, personally I thought they were going to go after B.J. Armstrong or Sherman Douglas.

Two Monrovia guys flying completely under the radar this offseason are wide receiver/defensive back Jay Henderson and linebacker Evan Sanchez. Then again, it seems like everybody coming back for M-Town is very good.

Last Add Arcadia: Let me throw a name at you: Lionce Haggerty.

Last Add Arcadia Quarterbacks: Former Apache starter Brian Ziska is in the process of wrapping up law school…

By the way, whatever happened “On the Couch”? Or “Off the Couch”? Or “The Devil on the Couch?…

I’m already missing Orlando Hudson.

Stay thirsty my friends…
