James “Lights Out” Toney Signs Multi Fight Deal with UFC

James Toney Joins UFC

Current NABO and IBA Heavyweight boxing champion James “Lights-Out” Toney (72-6 boxing, 0-0 MMA) has signed a multi fight deal with the UFC. Toney has been pushing for UFC president Dana White to give him a chance in recent months.

Toney’s last two fights were a TKO win over Matthew Greer in September and a win over Fres Oquendo for the vacant NABO and IBA heavyweight belts. Toney looks like he would be a perfect opponent for Kimbo Slice.

This is one of the first moves by the UFC that most fans and critics don’t agree with. Toney is 41 years old and is already talking like he’s punch drunk. The fear is that a couple of shots with four ounce gloves and he probably won’t be able to talk at all. Critics say that if he faces a ground and pound expert his wish will be short lived and he’ll be put out of his misery fast.
