There you go again little man trying to convince us that all your spring and summer trophies really matter. Lets see, last time i checked Burbank was still beating you. And they don’t have any summer trophies yet. Real football starts when the pads come on. Until then it’s just something to do to pass the time and work on defensive coverages. So settle down little one and remember, your only relevant on the corner of Cypress and azusa.

    I love your take!!!
Los Altos has been in the finals twice in the last three years, with very little, if any, passing circuit success. They lift, and lift, and throw check downs in 7 on 7… practice what works on Friday nights, take the heat from the press in the summer, but it pays dividends in November

About time someone who understands that 7on7 does not reflect how good or bad your team will be during the season when the pads are on. Not saying it’s all bad because it helps the qbs develop timing and chemistry with the wr’s. To bash coaching staffs and players over 7on7’s is just not fair!

It is always funny how completing a few passes in row with no rush and complex patterns makes fans giddy with hope. The quarterback and receivers should be able to complete every one. These exercises should be for determining how bad you are not how good. You throw to your backs to see if they can handle the quick hard pass and you throw over the middle in traffic to check QB accuracy and receivers fear of contact or work on timing and spot passing areas as if there is a blitz coming. In other words you learn far more by not scoring. Throwing deep on half your plays to your speediest and tallest wideout pleases the groupies but says little about the end result and is a waste of time.. There are a few coaches and teams disciplined enough to be doing this. Its tough on the players but it will pay off in the fall. I differ with the take that if you keep score winning is the objective always.

Sad thing is you think thise were our starting LBs. Both of our guys were still on the sideline recovering from injuries. And until one hot hurt tapia was running to the sideline throwing the ball away cause he was scared to get hit!

With Ramos run game knowledge mixed in the air raid concepts from Elias it’s a deadly combo. Could make the difference and end the oiler win streak. Kudos to Ramos for realizing his weaknesses and bringing in someone to fill those needs.

Thanks guys! Anytime I can be named in the same sentence with my good friend Jude Oliva is a complement. I’ve grown as a coach due to coaches likes Dimalante and Oliva and yes we run similar things. It takes real coaches to teach concepts to young men and do it successfully. For thank I thank you for the complement again! Go SPARTANS

Both Schurr and Montebello look good. This years game should be another close game. BG and Alhambra wont be able to compete against schurr and Montebello

Its actually ACCEPT…but I understand no degree is needed to join the staff at Doublz. You all are correct… its a passing tournament. No biggie its the summer throw to the RB fun. No biggie, in actuality the Schurr team looked a little bit more “tamed” than the Montebello team. Montebello came out trying to intimidate the Schurr team and Schurr bit back. Classic moment came when the Schurr player gave the QB his football back after the pick to end the game. Looks like both teams had players going both ways, I didnt see any of the Schurr WR going both ways. MTBL losing the tight end is a big loss. Interesting to see HC for Schurr on the sideline not calling plays. Cuddos to Petey for bailing out his ??? for the GTA in time for the tournament. Stay Classy…….

I said once and I’ll say it again. All the recruiting in the world and still no ring. You can keep convincing yourself that winning league is enough but we know it’s not. Your golden boy is a senior now. So that window is closing fast. Your so called coaching staff that can only coach other schools players are in for a rude awakening. So keep pounding your chest little man. Northview isn’t, never has, and never will be relevant past the corner of Cypress and Azusa.

Watched all 3 teams from the Almont on Saturday (Montebello, Schurr, and Bell Gardens) and this is what I think:
Montebello – Montebello is still the team to beat until someone does, Montebello is not as athletic as they have been in the past but Tapia is the guy! Defensively it does not look like they have missed a beat.
Schurr – Very athletic but a lot of guys going both ways, I was surprised to see them as “talkative” as they were. One of the better athletic teams there but they do have a lot of guys going both ways. Interested in seeing their lines.
Bell Gardens – Much improved from last year, watched their opening game against CV and was expecting them to be throttled but only lost by a TD. Also watched them play Bonita and what is suppose to be one of their better teams and the game finished in a tie. Not at the Montebello/Schurr level yet but they could easily sneak up on one of them this year.
The Almont has the potential to be fun this year!

You are the one crying about this being the only time you’ve had your “full team” why is that even an issue? Just shut up and be proud of you boys , cuz this is the best it’s gonna get 😉

Montebello did not look like they played as a team yesterday and they started out very slow they can not have that happen during the regular season, schurr does look good but in a real game those schurr players going both ways will be drained i will still say Montebello takes it no matter what.

Is it just me, or does it irk everyone else the same when these teams that recruit talk about not having their full team. Shut up, 90% of other coaches would love to have your recruited team with missing guys.

No talk about the Montebello vs Schurr game?! Montebello seems quiet! Saw the game on Saturday and was very impressed by the offensive attack the Spartans had. Montebello had no answer… likewise for Schurr, defensively they had no answer for the backs out the back field. This is shaping up to be a great league match up. Ramos has done a good job adapting his offense. Doesn’t look like old BG anymore!

Schurr beat Montebello on a last second interception. The Safety then dusts the ball off and hands it back to Tapia the MHS qb a small scuffle ensued but cooler heads prevailed. Easily the game of the day. Northview looked sharp Comstock looks like he’s gonna finish off with a bang. The MVL was represented by Rosemead SEM Marshall and of course Arroyo
First Arroyo looked just ok. Definitely not their best outing. Looked flat tired legs.
SEM saw vs Bonita and Northview offensively I like the direction but once again defensively it’s breakdown after breakdown. Gallardo, remember the KISS method.
Rosemead looks like they’re going back to ground and pound saw a lot power formations. Good to know.
Marshall has an athlete! Wish I knew his name but kid was making plays.
Good to see the local teams compete

From T. Peterson: Arroyo was eliminated by Diamond Ranch by three points. I’ll have to double check on Montebello.
